š A Living Document: Affirmations I Read Every Day
Taken this morning on my slow walkācane in hand, affirmations playing out loud. š¤ļøš§ The Cubs polo keeps sparking conversations with kind strangers.

I treat this as a living documentāsomething I polish, edit, add to, and remove from. I read it daily. When I donāt, I stray. When I do, I reset.
I think before I speak.
I choose kindness; it plants seeds in others, in me, and in the world.
I reflect without dwellingālearn from the past, good and bad.
I donāt judge; there but for the grace of God go I.
I simplify: remember the Golden Rule.
I forgive and accept; hate doesnāt get rent-free space in my head or soul.
I use levity as a lifelineāread the room; humor without cruelty.
I know my audience, I read the room; and I never talk down to people.
I breathe when angry. If Iām very angry, I take two minutes in private, reset, and return.
I am capable of meaningful work that makes the world a little better.
Small actions can ripple outward.
Asking for help shows self-respect and self-awareness.
Changing my mind is a strength.
I am allowed to feel blessed.
I donāt over-apologize; when I cause harm, I make a genuine apology.
My healthāmental and physicalāis a lifelong journey, not a trip with a finish line.
I am open to healing.
Iām optimistic: today is new, and Iām six feet above ground.
My perspective matters.
I celebrate othersā wins and encourage those still in the struggle.
I temper speed with stillness; I donāt rush my life.
I leave room for spontaneity.
I love that I love what I love.
I choose friends who are kind, curious, and growth-minded.
I choose a partner I can laugh with, trust, and grow old alongside.
I make decisions using data, experience, and the counsel of trusted peopleāeven those who disagree.
I make time to grieve; feelings move through when theyāre acknowledged.
I seek mystery in the ordinary.
Progress, not perfection.
I allow myself to evolve and start new chapters, even when theyāre uncomfortable or unknown.
I keep a clear purpose; focus guides me through detours.
I practice gratitudeāfor what is and whatās yet to come.
There is poetry in everything; when I find it, I free-write and share when appropriate.
I journal every day.
I free-write throughout the day and use the tools that make it easy.
I accept the sound of my voice; itās part of me.
I speak with clarity, warmth, and purpose; my words land where they need to.
When I speak my needs, I make room to receive them.
Words are powerful; I use them with care.
When publishing: Write. Revise. Review. Revise. Review. Pause. Review. Donāt dwell. Edit if neededānear-perfect is great. Breathe. Publish.
Writing & Reading
I write dailyāeven a single honest sentence counts.
I separate drafting from editing: first get it down, then make it shine.
I read widely to grow empathy, craft, and curiosity.
I keep a swipe file of lines, images, and questions that spark ideas.
I check facts and dates; I credit sources.
I respect the readerās time: clarity first, flourish second.
I embrace feedback without losing my voice.
I publish with humility and revise with courage.
On anxious days, I remind myself:
I can step away and come back when Iām ready.
I focus on what I can control and release what I cannot.
Support is allowed; I donāt have to do this alone.
If any of this helps you, borrow it. If you keep your own list, Iād love to hear whatās on itādrop a line in the comments.
